for the Society of Dyers and Colourists

The Society of Dyers and Colourists is the international Chartered body providing education, knowledge and support across all aspects of colour and its application – particularly for textiles and clothing.

In response to the needs of the retail supply chains to understand and communicate colour, a series of new modular courses has been introduced to enable buyers, designers, merchandisers, technologists, garment makers and others involved in the supply chain to assimilate this knowledge. By completing all four modules, attendees are awarded the SDC Certificate in Colour Management, which attests that a basic understanding of colour management has been achieved.

Malcolm Ball Associates has been accredited to deliver and award Module 2 – Principles of Colour Assessment and Colour Communication - on behalf of the SDC.

This module is of particular benefit to retail organisation staff and others in the supply chain wishing to understand the nature of colour perception and how colour may be used and reliably communicated – with and without instrumentation. There is also an explanation of international best practice, which is essential for good understanding and communication.
The course has been written to start from first principles and there is no qualifying educational requirement.

The course is normally delivered in-house, to reduce disruption and lost time to the purchasing organisation, and accommodates up to a maximum of 12 delegates per session. The session lasts c. 3.5 hours so two sessions may be delivered in one day if required.

Please contact us for further information or to arrange a course at your premises.

For those wishing to study further, the course can be developed into the Diploma in Colour Management, which is a first step to the Licentiateship of the Society of Dyers and Colourists.

Please contact the SDC for further information on professional and Chartered qualifications of the Society.
